An Example of Going Viral

Just after writing a post on Patrick Lamb’s contemplation of viral marketing and law firms, I came across an interesting example of something going viral.

Dane Carlson writes a business opportunities blog…not the same as legal services, but not exactly the iPhone either. To promote his site, Carlson created a How Much Is Your Blog Worth applet. Just type in the URL and it tells you how much the site is worth based on Tristan Louis’ research on the AOL-Weblogs, Inc. deal. (In case you’re wondering, GarrettWorley.com is currently “worth” a mere $3,387.24.)

Apparently the applet has gone viral and traffic to Carlson’s blog has increased dramatically. Maybe someone should get to work on a more legally-oriented applet.
